NEW VAL PRESIDENT

Posted in: Newsletters

At the recent AGM our current President Stephanie Spence announced that she would not be seeking re-election and would cease her role as President.  On behalf of the VAL community we extend a huge thank you to Stephanie for her 3 years as president and 5 years as VAL committee member.  During her time as President Stephanie has made a significant impact, she became the first female VAL president and was instrumental in the development of a new strategic plan, the development and promotion of gender equity and diversity and more recently in navigating us through the uncertainty of competing in a COVID-19 environment.  Stephanie will remain on the Stawell Gift Event Management Committee and thus will continue to work closely with the VAL committee into the future.  Thanks for your contribution Stephanie.

We are also excited to announce our new president, Matthew McDonough. Matthew has been a VAL member for over 20 years having first competed in 1998 and joined the VAL committee in 2020.  Matthew is currently a General Manager at Deakin University, a Certified Practising Accountant and Fellow of the Association for Tertiary Education Management.  With a strong background in corporate governance, strategy and innovation, Matthew along with the current committee will continue to refine and develop the strategic plan to ensure we can sustainably grow and enhance our membership experience.

We are also looking to engage with as many members as possible to help and advance our sport, more details on this and communication from our new President will be coming shortly.
