MARCH 2021 NEWSLETTER
23 MARCH 2021
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
I am so excited that in less than two weeks time, we will be driving up the highway to the 2021 Powercor Stawell Gift! It is crazy to think that it is almost 1 year to the day that our 2020 season ended so abruptly. I want to say a very big thank you to all the people who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the 2021 VAL season has been a success. The focus for this newsletter is the Powercor Stawell Gift and I implore you to please read the newsletter in detail, especially the FAQs. I anticipate that while a number of your experiences at Stawell this year will remain the same, some might look or feel different so it is important that you equip yourself with knowledge on how to ensure you enjoy a COVID safe experience. We will be hosting two FAQ sessions which will be opportunities to ask questions on any of the areas that are unclear to you – the details are below. That’s all from me – see you at Central Park
STAWELL FAQ - ZOOM SESSIONS
We will be running 45 minute FAQ sessions ahead of the Stawell Gift on the next 2 Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm. Before joining either session, please review the Stawell FAQ's below.

DISTANCE RUNNING REVIEW
The VAL would like to hear from all stakeholders (members and non-members) to gather information, insight and ideas to improve the participation numbers and experience for distance events in the VAL. The information will be gathered by the VAL and used to form the basis of a review and recommendations for endorsement by the committee. If you would like to offer further help with this review or ask further questions on this important topic, please contact Matt McDonough (VAL Committee Member) 0417164085
To assist us in gathering information, we have created a very short 5 question survey. Thank you for helping us improve distance running with the VAL.
The 300m Legends Series Final and the 100m Under 14 Series Final have been confirmed to run at Stawell on Easter Monday, along with the InterSport 400m Restricted Series Final
The 100m Under 14 and the 400m Restricted finalists will be confirmed after the Ringwood meeting.
The leader boards have been updated. Click HERE to find out who's leading the way...

What is the VAL Medal?
The 20-21 season will see the introduction of the 'VAL Medal'. The award will be presented to the athlete that demonstrates the most supreme athletic performances amongst their peers throughout the season across from any and all distances or categories. With all athletes being eligible, a culmination of points will be awarded by the officials at each meeting throughout the season and the award will be presented to the highest points scorer. Stay tuned for more information on the VAL Medal.
