Below is a list of the Stawell Lifts gained as the season has progressed. The races and athletes eligible for the Stawell lifts in the 550m Open, 800m Open and the Open & Women’s 120m Gifts are below.

120m Stawell Open and Women’s Gift

Any athlete that breaks ceiling time is ineligible for the lift and any lift given to an athlete cannot take them past ceiling time.

Any athlete that wins two Gifts Australia wide in the 19/20 season is ineligible for the bonus.

The Victorian Athletic League have decided that with a series of wind variances and the downhill track, all times from the Warrnambool meeting (30/11) will be disregarded. For season 20/21 any times from Warrnambool will not be included in the athlete’s sample. It has also been decided that times recorded over 100m, especially in the women’s events, are not a true indication of an athlete’s ability over 120m. The VAL believe that in good faith the bonus should still be awarded to athletes that have broken or nearly reached the ceiling time in 100m events.

550m Open

A handicap lift of either 3, 4 or 5 metres is awarded to any athlete who wins a VAL Open 550m handicap. The athlete will lose the bonus by winning a second 550m event or any classic Australia wide. The lift cannot result in the new mark passing the advertised Stawell limit, the athlete cannot break ceiling time in the win nor the lift take the athlete above ceiling time.

800m Open

A handicap lift between 5 and 10 metres is awarded to any athlete who wins a VAL Open 800m handicap. The athlete will lose the bonus by winning a second 550m event or any classic Australia wide. The lift cannot result in the new mark passing the advertised Stawell limit, the athlete cannot break ceiling time in the win nor the lift take the athlete above ceiling time.
